Privacy
Last updated 17 October 2026
- No cookies, no ads, no tracking across other sites, no accounts.
- We record searches and clicks to see what works, under an ID that changes every month and can't be traced back to you.
- We never store your IP address with any of that.
- We don't sell or share your data.
Who we are
OpenChase (openchase.ai) is made by CuriousCats.ai. Questions or requests about your data: comms@curiouscats.ai.
What we record when you use OpenChase
- Searches: what you typed, whether you used Search or Ask, the countries you picked, how many posts came back from each platform, and how long it took.
- What you do on the page: that you visited (and the website you came from, if any), which results you opened (the platform, its position and the website it links to), and when you load more posts, expand the overview, stop a search, switch a search between question and plain search, change the time period searched, share a search (how, and from which button), start a new search from the results page (from the box at the top or the one at the end, not what you typed), change countries or open the Agents & API page.
- Rough context: your country and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, as reported by our content delivery network.
Each record carries a visitor ID instead of your IP address. The ID is a one-way code made from your IP address and the current month, using a secret key only our servers hold. It lets us count how many people used OpenChase this month and whether they came back. It changes every month and can't be turned back into your IP address.
Anything you type into the search box is recorded, so please don't search for personal details you wouldn't want stored.
The waitlist
If you join the Agents & API waitlist, we store your email, the options you ticked, any note you wrote, and the same country, device and visitor ID as above. We use it only to email you about that launch. Ask us and we'll remove you.
What's saved in your browser
No cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps a few settings you chose, so the site remembers them. Nothing in it is sent to us or used to track you.
openchase_theme: light or dark mode.openchase_locales: the countries you search.openchase_recent_searches: your recent searches, with the countries and time period each one ran with, kept until you clear them (Clear history in the menu).openchase_waitlist_joined: that you joined the waitlist (not your email).openchase_overview_rail: whether you closed the overview panel on a wide screen.
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of them.
Who else sees what
- Search sources. To find posts, our servers send your search words to search engines and news feeds (including Microsoft Bing and Google News). The requests come from our servers, not your browser, so they don't see your IP address.
- Link previews. When a search runs, its post counts per platform and its top story (or, for a question, the first line of its answer) are kept for 7 days, so a shared link to it can show a preview card. This is about the search, not about you: no visitor ID, IP address or device is attached.
- AI model. Searches of three or more words are sent to an AI model through OpenRouter to tell whether they are a question and, if so, to pick what to search for. The written overview or answer sends your search words and the titles of the public posts found to an AI model through OpenRouter. No IP address or visitor ID is sent.
- The sites in your results. Result images load straight from the sites that published them (for example Instagram, X, YouTube or news sites), and links take you to those sites. They see your IP address the way any website you visit does, under their own privacy policies.
- Hosting. OpenChase runs on Amazon Web Services, delivered through Amazon CloudFront.
Security logs
To stop abuse we limit how many searches one connection can make per minute. When a connection goes over that limit, our server logs note its IP address so we can spot attacks. That's the only place an IP address is written down.
How long we keep it
We keep search and page records to understand how OpenChase is used over time. We don't yet delete them on a fixed schedule; when we set one, it will appear here. Waitlist entries are kept until the launch they're for, or until you ask us to remove yours.
Why we're allowed to
For searches, page activity and security logs, we rely on our legitimate interest in running OpenChase, keeping it safe and improving it. We keep that data minimal and not linked to who you are. For the waitlist, we rely on your consent, given when you join, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing comms@curiouscats.ai. Because search records aren't tied to your identity, we usually can't find yours; waitlist entries we can find by email. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change what we record, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
